Leicester Actors Network – Code of Conduct
By being part of this network, you’re joining a supportive and respectful space for local actors. To keep things safe and enjoyable for everyone, here’s what we ask of all members:
1. Who Can Join
- The Facebook group is open to anyone with a genuine connection to Leicester or Leicestershire’s acting community.
- The WhatsApp group is invite-only. Only admins can add new members, and we only invite people we’ve met in person.
- We aim to create a welcoming and respectful space, and membership in either group is based on mutual trust and the discretion of the admins.
2. Be Respectful
Treat everyone with kindness and respect — online and offline. No discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour. Differences of opinion are fine, but please keep conversations constructive and considerate.
3. Use Group Spaces Wisely
- Stay on topic
- Be mindful of tone and language – this includes “banter”
- Think before posting something personal or sensitive
- Conversations in the group should benefit the group
- If your conversation becomes more personal or one-to-one, please take it to private messages so the group space stays relevant and inclusive for everyone.
- Remember that in the WhatsApp group, your phone number is visible to other members
4. Respectful Private Messaging
To maintain a supportive and professional environment, please only message other members privately when at least one of the following conditions apply:
- You have a clear professional reason to make contact
- They’ve given explicit permission
- You’re replying to a message or conversation they initiated
We want everyone to feel safe and not worry about unexpected DMs.
5. Be Inclusive
We welcome everyone regardless of gender, race, sexuality, disability, age, or background. Let’s keep this a space where everyone feels valued.
6. Safeguarding
If something happens that makes you or someone else feel unsafe, let us know. We have a Safeguarding Lead you can talk to in confidence. No concern is too small.
7. If Things Go Wrong
If someone breaks these guidelines, we’ll take it seriously. Depending on the situation, we might give a warning or remove someone from the group(s). Our aim is always to protect the wellbeing of the community.
8. Reporting Something
See something that worries you? Been made uncomfortable? Just want to talk? Message one of the organisers. We’ll listen and handle it sensitively. You can find the contact details of the organisers on the Contact page.
